SEF believes that books are gifts that keep on giving. Recreational reading inspires students to solve mysteries, travel, learn, explore and so much more. As such, it is with an enormous amount of gratitude that we thank the Kids Need to Read Foundation for their continued investment in our organization which allows us to give the gift of literature in San Gabriel public schools.

Our recent book delivery to Jefferson Middle School included 2,106 pieces of literature; that’s 2 books for each of the 1,030 students and 100 for the library for a total retail value of $36,233.
We are grateful to the amazing Principal, Librarian and of course the Teachers for working together diligently to schedule a book distribution before the winter break. All grades 6, 7, and 8 students visited the library class by class to choose their two pieces of literature. We hope the books will give the students a pleasant escape from technology and some good ole fashioned enjoyment!!

Jefferson Middle School Librarian Ms. Vanessa Dodd shared, “It’s so wonderful to see the students enjoying shopping for books! They can’t believe they’re FREE, they keep asking when they need to return them. Thank you so much for all you do!”
